US House Launches Plan to Oust Trump With Testimony From Cohen - Lawmaker

President Donald Trump's former lawyer Michael Cohen will testify in a public hearing before a USA congressional committee on February 27 and the panel's chairman said Trump's business practices would be a focus of the testimony.

Trump has fumed to advisers about a search by federal prosecutors of his lawyer and former fixer Michael Cohen's office and residences in April 2018, and those close to Trump have feared the investigation into Cohen could extend deeper into Trump's business.

Cohen's attorneys requested the delay, citing a need for Cohen recover from recent shoulder surgery and Cohen's upcoming testimony in front of three congressional committees.

In announcing Cohen's testimony, Cummings said the oversight committee would ask Trump's former lawyer to "describe his concerns about the president's actions since assuming office".

Earlier Wednesday, Cohen, who pleaded guilty to campaign finance violations for making hush-money payments to two women who claimed they had affairs with Trump, got a 60-day reprieve before he has to enter a federal prison.

Cohen is scheduled to speak to the House Intelligence committee behind closed doors on February 28.
