Special Counsel Indicts Roger Stone

According to the indictment, between June and July of 2016, Stone told "senior Trump campaign officials" about the stolen emails in WikiLeaks' possession that could be damaging to Hillary Clinton.

They were there staking out Stone because there was just enough evidence lurking in the special counsel's activity over the past week that CNN's team covering the Mueller investigation placed a bet that Stone could be arrested as early as Friday.

Stone is scheduled to appear in court in Florida later.

Magistrate Judge Lurana Snow released Stone on $250,000 USA bond. His case will be transferred to Washington, D.C.

Stone has previously admitted to being in contact with Julian Assange of WikiLeaks during the Trump campaign.

After the committee contacted Credico for testimony, Stone attempted to persuade Credico to either claim not to remember specific facts or to assert the Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination. "I guarantee you you are the one who gets indicted for perjury if you're stupid enough to testify", Stone told the person in a December 1, 2017, text message.

"And my spidey sense tells me they mean to move on us to take InfoWars out, and to take any support for the president out because they know we got President Trump elected", Jones said Friday while speaking with Roger Stone, a former Trump adviser who was arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in a predawn raid Friday. But none of the Trump associates connected to Trump have been charged with crimes related to collusion.

Mr Stone will appear in court later in the city of Fort Lauderdale.

"Look, I know the charges are about whether or not [Stone] gave false statements, and that's on that individual", she said. That alleged lie, which he also told to Congress, forms the basis for some of his other criminal charges in Friday's indictment.

Trump on Friday called the investigation the "Greatest Witch Hunt in the History of our Country!" In reference to the raid, Trump questioned why CNN was already there and said of the circumstances of Stone's arrest, "Border Coyotes, Drug Dealers and Human Traffickers are treated better".

Stone is a key ally of Trump and he is reported to be arrested following an indictment by a federal grand jury on 24 January, as part of the Mueller probe. The indictment does not name the official or say who directed the outreach to Stone.

"The indictment was not unexpected, but it is still significant because it alleges coordination between the Trump Campaign and WikiLeaks", said Barbara McQuade, a former US Attorney for the Eastern District of MI.

Shortly after another email dump, "an associate of the high-ranking Trump Campaign official sent a text message to STONE that read 'well done'". Mueller's nearly certainly been sitting on the information in this indictment for quite some time, and seems quite content to operate at his own pace. White House officials could not be immediately reached.
