Trump berates reporter for 'racist' question

When Acosta started to ask Trump about his comments calling a migrant group marching toward the southern USA border an "invasion", Trump said that's what he still considers it.

Trump fired back, using his Twitter feed to call her a "crazed, crying lowlife" and 'that dog'.

ACOSTA: Mr. President, are you anxious about indictments coming down in this investigation? The aide then kneeled next to Acosta to wait for him to finish speaking. "I don't know why you'd say that, that's such a racist question", Trump told Alcindor, who happens to be African-American.

When Acosta brought up the Trump administration's ad, Trump said the information in the commercial, which some deemed racist, is fact.

Acosta then stands up and says something (it's a bit inaudible since he doesn't have the mic) about Trump's labeling of the media as the "enemy of the people" and the pipe bombs sent to CNN. "You and I have a difference of opinion", Trump replied calmly. He went on to call Acosta a "rude, bad person", who CNN should be "ashamed of".

The euro fell to $1.1390 from $1.1412.Tokyo's Nikkei 225 sank 0.2 percent and Seoul's Kospi lost 1.5 percent. The response on Wall Street was to send the Dow plunging after it had opened by more than 300 points up.

"It's very hard when you have that many retirements", he said.

After that, President Trump did his best to brush off Acosta's follow-up questions without answering. "And it is so sad that you asked me, and no, you rudely interrupted him".

The president went on to accuse Acosta, as well as other members of the media, of being extremely hostile towards him and White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders. You are a very rude person. "You shouldn't treat people that way".

NBC Correspondent Pete Williams was given the next question and used part of his allotted time to defend Acosta, whom he referred to as a "diligent reporter".

"I never anxious about it because I've never used racist remarks", Trump told a Yahoo reporter.

Khashoggi's killing threatens Trump dreams for Mideast peace
But some of his comments appeared to contradict previous statements from Riyadh, marking yet another shift in the official story. Turkish government sources have claimed that Mr Khashoggi was tortured and murdered by a hit squad flown in from Riyadh.

Trump responded by saying he didn't like Alexander all that much either.

To PBS NewsHour's Yamiche Alcindor, who asked him about white nationalists emboldened by Trump labeling himself a "nationalist", Mr. Trump said he was insulted. "You shouldn't be working for CNN", he said.

Fox News' Chris Wallace called Acosta's behavior "shameful".

"We saw the candidates I supported achieve tremendous success last night", Mr. Trump boasted.

"They are not only risky, they are disturbingly un-American". The network said while Trump doesn't respect a free press, he has the constitutional responsibility to protect it. One confrontation with CNN's Jim Acosta turned bitterly personal.
