Ford has not been contacted by FBI yet in Kavanaugh investigation

The FBI is free to investigate any sexual misconduct allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh that it deems credible, two White House spokeswomen said on Sunday, rebuffing suggestions the administration has tried to limit the probe.

In what has become the year of the woman in national politics, there are no easy answers for a party aligned with a president who has dismissed more than a dozen allegations of sexual misconduct of his own.

"I'm sorry that this awful thing happened to her at the hands of someone", Conger said. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., said it was his understanding there would be an FBI investigation of "the outstanding allegations, the three of them", but Republicans have not said whether that was their understanding as well.

The balancing act reflects the impossible politics ahead for some Republican candidates, particularly those in swing states and suburban House districts.

Christine Blasey Ford
Christine Blasey Ford waves as she testifies before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday

After NBC News and the other outlets said Swetnick would not be questioned, the White House, which has stood by Kavanaugh throughout the fallout from an explosive Senate hearing on Thursday, denied it was limiting the investigation.

To Hannah King, a college senior from Bristol, Tennessee, Christine Blasey Ford's allegations of a drunken attack by Kavanaugh at a 1982 party when both were in high school were jarring and scary.

The FBI investigation into Ford's and Ramirez's claims came after a dramatic showdown in the Senate Judiciary Committee on Friday, in which Flake urged his Republican colleagues to allow a one-week FBI investigation into the Kavanaugh allegations.

The move followed emotional testimony from Ford and Kavanaugh at a committee hearing on Thursday that further roiled emotions and outrage surrounding the nomination for a lifetime appointment to the high court. It's a Senate process.

Carabao Cup: Liverpool's Klopp unhappy with VAR v Chelsea
Jurgen Klopp criticised Liverpool's defenders for failing to shut down Eden Hazard as the forward sent Chelsea into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup in style.

- Whether or not Republicans ultimately confirm President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee, some on the front lines of the GOP's midterm battlefield fear the party may have already lost. But if they really cared about a true investigation, Comey said there wouldn't be an alarm on the investigation. "Please correct your reporting!" he wrote on Twitter. Grassley and other senators have provided few other specifics, and a committee spokesman declined to comment after Trump's tweet Saturday endorsing a broader approach.

Ramirez alleges that Kavanaugh, as a Yale University freshman, drunkenly exposed himself and shoved his penis in her face in front of a group of classmates, according to an account she gave to the New Yorker.

The other witnesses to be questioned by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the New York Times reported, are Kavanaugh's friend Mark Judge and Leland Keyser and PJ Smyth, also said to have been at the party at which Ford says Kavanaugh assaulted her. She added that who will be interviewed was "up to the FBI" in its expanded background investigation into Kavanaugh.

She expressed sympathy for Ford, but said Kavanaugh deserved protection, too. "I just want this conducted in a fair way". Was it to promote her progressive organization (especially since she says they don't get big funding)?

Islamic State Issued a Video, Claimed Responsibility for Iran Attack
Guards Brigadier General Hossein Salami, in a speech broadcast on state TV, said: "You have seen our revenge before". President Rouhani said the Unites States and Gulf states are causing bloodshed and threatened a thorough response.

"I've never heard that the White House, either under this president or other presidents, is saying: 'Well, you can't interview this person; you can't look at this time period; you can only look at these people from one side of the street, '" she said.

Conway told CNN's "State of the Union" that she was only aware of the parameters the Senate set on the probe.

The GOP-controlled Senate Judiciary Committee voted along party lines Friday to send Kavanaugh's nomination to the full Senate, with the informal understanding that the FBI would investigate the allegations against Kavanaugh.

It's not meant to be a fishing expedition."The White House is not getting involved in the FBI investigation in that way", she added".

Fleetwood boss Barton: Liverpool fans to blame for Premier League title drought
After being sent on loan to West Bromwich Albion last season, the injury-prone England forward's Liverpool career looked over. What the boys make of the match plan is extraordinary.

The committee has said the probe should be limited to "current credible allegations" against Kavanaugh and be finished by Friday.
