As Trump fumes over leaks, Woodward pushes back on criticism

On Friday, President Trump said he knows of "four or five" people who could've been behind the op-ed, which described a plot within his administration of "many" senior officials who are "working diligently from within to frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations".

The Politico/Morning Consult poll found that 61 percent of voters think the administration is chaotic, while 32 percent believe it is running well.

"The things-some of the things-that Trump did and does jeopardizes the real national security", Woodward said.

Legendary Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward appeared on CBS' "Late Show with Stephen Colbert" on Monday, the night before his new book hit the shelves, to talk about how he reported out "Fear" and how he feels about being criticized by President Trump.

On Twitter, Trump called the book "a scam" and labelled Woodward "a liar". The tweets attracted widespread attention and concern - "the Internet lost its collective mind", as Woodward wrote in his book.

At some points, Woodward writes, Porter stood as a critical voice to temper the president's whims.

He said the president's fate is now in the hands of the American political system - an especially important observation as the country gears up for its midterm elections in November.

In other tweets Monday morning, Trump claimed that the White House, which has experienced significant staff turnover and other tumult, is a "smooth running machine" and touted economic figures under his leadership.

"One key person who's in office called me and said, "Everyone knows what you said here is true".

And Cohn told Axios that the "book does not accurately portray my experience at the White House". "Never has a country given so much away for so little in return" as the United States had in Afghanistan, Modi had said to Trump, according to The Washington Post.

"If I did I would not have been elected president".

"To be clear, a number of the statements attributed to me and from others to me in the Woodward book are incorrect". He argued that the person purposely put the piece in the Times to anger him, and he has continued to focus on identifying and firing the author, even as some advisers have urged him to let the matter go, said a person familiar with the president's thinking but not authorized to discuss private conversations.

English Premier League Report: Manchester City v Newcastle United 01 September 2018
The 22-year-old started just one of City's first five games last season, with Guardiola saying that "he didn't make a good preseason".

Kelly is quoted calling Trump "an idiot", and Mattis is quoted saying Trump has the understanding of "a fifth or sixth-grader", but they've said they didn't make those statements. "Woodward would have performed rudimentary journalistic fact checking with those he was quoting, he would have had a more accurate book rather than just being a stenographer for Mr. Bannon's self-aggrandizing revisionist history".
