Apple, Facebook and Spotify remove Alex Jones content

Last week, Facebook removed four of Jones' videos from the platform for offensive content, and suspended InfoWars founder Jones from the social media site for 30 days for violating Facebook's policies against bullying and hate speech.

On Monday, the company said that it "unpublished" the four pages after receiving reports that they contained content "glorifying violence" and used "dehumanizing language" to describe Muslims, immigrants and transgender people.

Twitter is on fire with debate over nearly simultaneous decisions by Facebook, Apple, YouTube and Spotify to take action against controversial right-wing YouTube host Alex Jones' and his InfoWars channel citing "hate speech".

In a statement, a YouTube spokesperson said the decision follows prior warnings to Jones about his content.

Technology companies Apple and Facebook have deleted content belonging to USA far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones from their platforms, alleging hate speech, glorified violence and other violations of policies. "When users violate these policies repeatedly, like our policies against hate speech and harassment or our terms prohibiting circumvention of our enforcement measures, we terminate their accounts", a spokesperson said.

Spotify, which added Jones to its podcast offerings last month only to be met with widespread criticism and threats of a boycott, is also ending its relationship with Jones.

"As long as Infowars was removed for actual violations of their policies, "good riddance", said Jason Kint, the chief executive of a trade group for online news publications, Digital Content Next". At least, that's what his lawyer told a judge when Jones was embroiled in a custody battle with his ex-wife a year ago. Apple cited a breach of their hate speech guidelines as the reason for dropping Alex Jones' work.

Those takedowns came just hours after Apple late Sunday removed all episodes of the show hosted by Jones and four other Infowars-related podcasts from Apple's iTunes and Podcast apps. Apple has also pulled several Infowars podcasts from iTunes, YouTube has followed suit with Infowars videos, while Spotify recently deleted of his shows from its service.

Jones said his channel's removal was imminent. But the company did not give specifics on Jones or Infowars.

Watson called the mass deletion of Infowars from Facebook, Apple, Spotify, and YouTube "a coordinated purge" and "political censorship".

However, the Infowars Documentaries channel Mr. Jones touted as a replacement is still published on YouTube. Former UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage tweeted that Jones was "the victim today of collusion by the big tech giants".

And as of Monday, Alex Jones's channel was not available on YouTube, with a notice that the account "has been terminated for violating YouTube's Community Guidelines".

Putin’s poodle? Why Trump’s act in Helsinki was no surprise
Underscoring how little is known about the meeting, Coats said that he was not told what happened in the room. He said he hadn't seen Trump's invitation himself, but that "Russia was always open to such proposals".

Infowars editor-at-large Paul Joseph Watson said in a tweet here that the broad take-downs amounted to censorship and were meant to help Democrats in the national election this fall.
