Trump To Meet Kim Jong-un In Singapore June 12

President Trump tweeted that his "highly-anticipated" meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un will take place in Singapore on June 12.

Meanwhile, US Vice President Mike Pence revealed details about the conditions of the three Americans, saying one was evidently kept from the daylight.

Officials said that step removed the last major obstacle to the nuclear-focused summit, providing Trump with tangible evidence that his policy of engagement was reaping rewards.

Last month the US President reversed his opinion of the dictator, calling him "very open" and "very honourable".

"Frankly we didn't think it was going to happen and it did", Trump said after thanking Kim for releasing the men.

The three returnees, whose families were not present for their arrival at the base in Maryland, are to undergo evaluations and medical treatment at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

South Korean leader Moon Jae-in met with his North Korean counterpart at the Peace House building, in the demilitarised village of Panmunjom, at the end of April.

"The prize I want is victory for the world, not even for here, victory for the world is the only prize I want". "I really think he wants to do something and bring the country into the real world". "My proudest achievement will be - this is part of it - when we denuclearise that entire peninsula".

"Some great things can happen, and that's what we hope", he added.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday at the air base, Trump indicated the meeting was "a few weeks" away and that he was optimistic about its potential outcome.

The meeting further lashed out at state and central government and said that the military can't help in resolving the issues. After several hours of fighting, five militants were killed and a policeman and a soldier wounded, said S.P.

The US President had earlier said on his Twitter it would be "quite a scene" when the detainees arrived in Washington.

The date and location have been decided but not yet announced. It's news that the family may be able to now deliver in person once they see Kim.

The ex-detainees thanked Trump for securing their freedom in a statement released by the State Department on their behalf.

This comes after the president welcomed the three Americans who returned home after being detained in North Korea.

But tensions began to ease, coinciding with the North's participation in the Winter Olympics in South Korea in February. "Kim Jong-un reached a satisfactory consensus on the issues discussed with the U.S. state secretary", the KCNA report added. More than a dozen abductees still remain missing, according to the Japanese government.

Additional reporting from Newsy affiliate CNN. For Kim Jong-un, the trip to Singapore will mark the furthest he's traveled from North Korea since becoming the country's leader in 2011.
