Apple Co-Founder Steve Wozniak Ditches Facebook Over User-Data Profiteering

Steve Wozniak, a co-founder of Apple, is closing down his Facebook account amid the ongoing privacy scandal facing the social media giant.

Wozniak also said he would rather pay a fee to Facebook than have his information used for advertising. Apple CEO Tim Cook also expressed a similar opinion during an interview in March saying he would have never seen himself in place of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg because his firm always respects the privacy of its customers.

"With Facebook, you are the product", said the Apple senior executive, who is one of the latest prominent users who have quit Facebook. This is done out of concern for the fact that Facebook was careless about his data and the fact that they allowed Cambridge Analytica get away with it. While it's possible to leave Facebook without retiring from Messenger, there's always the risk that Facebook will keep on collecting data on its users. To this Cook said, "I wouldn't be in the situation".

Wrestlemania 34 Preview and Predictions
The 34th WrestleMania will take place at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans , Louisiana and scheduled on 8, April 2018. Charlotte is the absolute best match WWE could have made in the division, and it should be a spectacle if they get enough time.

Steve Wozniak is the latest among several other celebrities to have bunked Facebook though for a change, Steve said he has only deactivated the account and not deleted it entirely.

A British data mining firm affiliated with Donald Trump's Republican presidential campaign gathered personal information from 87 million Facebook users to try to influence elections.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg is set to testify before Congress at a Senate hearing Tuesday and a House hearing on Wednesday about its handling of the Cambridge Analytica case. In his words, Facebook is essentially making money on the identities and info of its users without the users seeing any of the proceeds.

Steve Wozniak has left Facebook, according to a report.

He further compared privacy rules of the two giants by stating that Apple is committed to user privacy and also questioned Facebook's business model by monetizing user's personal information. And he heaped praise on Apple for respecting people's privacy. Face book (FB) banned Cambridge Analytica out of its platform last month.

Facebook did not immediately respond to CNET's request for comment.
