Wednesday's arrest was the latest incident involving unfounded threats made against a number of Space Coast schools - and schools across the state - in the wake of the Valentine's Day massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High in Parkland.

The walkout is part of a larger movement across the country, set for the one-month anniversary of the shooting at a Florida school that left 17 dead.

The students say they will continue "Walkout Wednesday" until lawmakers hear their concerns and take action on gun control.

The threats were made February 18 and the victim reported it to the Palmyra Middle School, which called the police.

After questioning the student and parents, police said they arrested the juvenile on a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct and transported the student to the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center.

Three Mid-Del students are in Del City police custody in connection with a shooting threat made against their school. Parents and students are encouraged to inform the classroom teacher, or any member of the Chandler High School staff, of activity or conversation that could present a safety issue for our students and community.

A presentation indicated that students at the high school will be on a shortened assembly schedule allowing for 60 minutes for the assembly.

Each time a threat is reported, officers drop what they're doing, rush to the scene and have no choice but to leave other areas of the county unprotected, including other schools. He also said he "fully believe [s] that students will be safe at West High" Thursday.
