The Album of the Year contenders Kendrick Lamar, Jay-Z, Bruno Mars and Childish Gambino make up the most minority nominees since 2005.

My pick would have to be for Jay Z's "4:44" based off the fact that the build up to the release of this album was highly anticipated by not just fans of hip-hop but by top tier, hip-hop artists too.

With his debut album "American Teen" being certified platinum, reaching number one on the Billboard R&B charts and peaking at no. 4 on the Hot 100 charts, singer-songwriter Khalid Robinson impressed the music industry in 2017. The man with the biggest song and album of the year before didn't have his voice heard one time during the Grammys.

Adele also expressed that Beyonce should have received the prize. Read about the other nominees for the category here.

Recording Academy CEO Neil Portnow said that his main concern for Sunday night's ceremony at Madison Square Garden is the weather. "I think it's a testimony to our hard work and intention of having a very vibrant, current, relevant, diverse voting membership".

This year, the live broadcast will return to Madison Square Garden for a cooler, more confined celebration of achievers who have excelled in 84 categories and numerous genres of the music recording industry.

In the fall previous year, JAY-Z went on tour to promote the album and that tour turned out to be his highest grossing solo tour ever. Lamar follows him with seven nods, leaving Bruno Mars in third with six. Gambino, better known as Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning actor Donald Glover, scored five nominations.

"I do wish more black women were being nominated as well, but hopefully we will be next year", Ali said. "Cosmic Hallelujah" peaked at number one on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart in November 2016, and its unique charm may lead to a win at the 60th Grammys. This year, the Recording Academy has the chance to award another recently departed legend, Carrie Fisher, nominated for best spoken word for audiobook The Princess Diarist.

O'Riordan, known for such hits as Linger and Zombie , died unexpectedly in her hotel room in London on January 15. "I am lost. Officials said they are awaiting the results of "various tests", and the hearing was adjourned until April 3rd .

Chris Stapleton leads the pack of country, Americana, folk and bluegrass nominees; he's up for three awards in 2018.

Several top rock acts of the 1980s, such as Journey, Guns N' Roses, and Foreigner have never won a Grammy Award despite each selling over 45 million albums and singles.

Who's Going to Win? Randy Newman's song "Putin", his sardonic ode to Russian President Vladimir Putin, is nominated for best arrangement, instruments and vocals.

Rapsody, born Marlanna Evans, is a North Carolina native whose 2017 album Laila's Wisdom garnered critical acclaim, is also in the running for best rap song, for "Sassy". Her new album, "reputation", will qualify for nominations at the 2019 Grammys. But the danger of vote-splitting between Jay-Z and Lamar means that the Grammy may go to one of the category's more pop-oriented artists.

She said if the open letter had in any way implied that harassment was " a good thing " she would not have lent her name to it. She continued, "I am a free woman and I will remain so".

Who are the other big Grammy winners?

Because the cut-off date for Grammy nominations eligibility was September 30, 2017, Swift's November release, Reputation, wasn't in the running for awards consideration.
