Then many outlets ran with a story that Baylor players were wearing all black against TCU as a protest to defend Briles.

Individual Baylor football players have stood up for ex-Bears head coach Art Briles in the months since he was sacked for his role in the school's sexual assault scandal; now, according to ESPN's Brett McMurphy, the entire team will join the ill-fated movement.

The Bears (6-2, 3-2 Big 12, No. 17 CFP) have lost consecutive games since a 6-0 start.

Striking transit workers block regional rail at rush hour
People are now facing the challenge of getting back and forth across the city and into the suburbs as the strike continues. On Tuesday, Wilson woke up an hour earlier than usual and her mother had to drive her to catch the train to the suburbs.

University spokesperson Lori Fogleman elaborated: "According to seniors who met with Coach Jim Grobe, the team's decision to wear black uniforms for [Saturday's] game was made months ago in anticipation of the game against TCU, Baylor's 111-year rival".

The school then hired Jim Grobe to be the program's head coach for the 2016 season, and tasked him with cleaning up and changing the culture of the program.

Baylor has been widely criticized over claims it mishandled sexual assault cases for several years.

On Friday evening, however, members of the Bears coaching staff signed a statement posted on offensive coordinator Kendal Briles' Twitter account addressing the scandal and the responses. In the statement, the assistant coaches claimed the "alleged victim reported [the incident] to her head sport coach" and the coach "reported to his superior" (former athletic director Ian McCaw). A banner featuring the hashtag #CAB, which stands for Coach Art Briles, was hung from a luxury suite inside McLane Stadium, and the players wore their black uniforms.

The statement also said that the victim's coach had indicated that Briles "handled the matter honorably and with the serious attention it deserved".

Briles' attorney, Ernest Cannon, told the newspaper that Briles did "everything that he was required to" while at the world's largest Baptist university and that the statement "indicates that they didn't think that their leader was sinful".

Grobe said he didn't know about the tweet in advance, but said he wouldn't step in the way when the "coaches wanted their perspective known".

"It's tough. You don't ever see anybody going through what we're kind of going through, but we can't use that as an excuse", quarterback Seth Russell said. Most Baylor fans don't support the blackout, but the fact that it's going to be their does ensure that the cloud of the scandal will be hanging in the air for this one today- for now it's best to try to focus on the fact that we need a win, and breaking the tie in our favor would be nice as well.

Briles was the only coach dismissed following the law firm's report, because he 'delegated down discipline and he operated a system where he was the last to know when he needed to be the first to know, ' explained Baylor regent Cary Gray.
