Nestle recalls drumstick ice cream due to Listeria concern

Nestle USA has recalled Nestle Drumstick products due to possible Listeria threats.

The two affected pack sizes contain 4.6 ounce cones and were distributed nationally.

The recall for 16- and 24-count packages of vanilla Drumsticks is voluntary, the company said in its recall on the Food and Drug Administration's website. It came after daily cleaning and testing of the production line indicated the presence of Listeria monocytogenes. "Turkey Hill Dairy has not received any reports of illness concerning this product recall".

Turkey Hill Dairy, another ice cream manufacturer, also issued a recall on October 7. Nestle is offering replacement ice creams where applicable.

The Dallas Police Department has not confirmed the report , and Talib and the Broncos have not commented on it. In 2008 Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Plaxico Burress shot himself in the leg on his way into a nightclub.

Listeria can sometimes be fatal to young children and the elderly, and can make healthy people sick.

The recalled products were put into distribution accidentally, the FDA reported.

Listeria monocytogenes causes symptoms of high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

The recall is being initiated as a precautionary action, the recall notice said.

Consumers who have the recalled products are urged to throw them away or return for a refund.
